This Monday- the 12th of May we will witness another great day. A day that will quickly put an end to the Tak Boleh Tahan campaign to its premature death. With the impending doom, the Singapore Democratic Party will see its fate on the cold hard floor of the courtroom. Perhaps Dr. Chee should lay prostrate in repentance at the feet of mercurial duo and beg for deliverance. Or the party can stand in defiance and watch themselves with their quaint beliefs in so-called democracy and freedom of expression self-immolate before their very eyes.

As that day fast approaches, SDP have already ran out of options. Nothing can save them, not even the scandalous and irrelevant affidavit by the exile former solicitor-general Mr. Francis Seow.

The defamation suit will never swing to their or anyone else’s favor. We have witnessed time and time again the breathtaking conclusions of past defamation cases. It will be over in ten minutes tops and a downtrodden Dr. Chee can watch the victorious smiles on their opponent’s faces and the gleam in their eyes. Will this be the end of SDP? Will the Tak Boleh Tahan campaign which we ingrates have supported its noble cause  come crashing to a halt at the halls of justice?

An ominous soothsayer from Sheep City has already spoken and predicted these events. Either way you don’t need to be a rocket scientist to figure this one out:

It is undoubtedly sure SDP will lose this case. It is confirmed and guaranteed (unless the sky drops on me) that the party will be made to pay tens of thousands in favor of the Lees. Unable to pay the damages, SDP will be de-registered and shutdown with relative ease. Judge Belinda Ang is as sure as rain and you can only watch in transfixed horror.

Having said that, it will be a sad day for the opposition which have been so far rather inanimate. They have also failed to rally behind SDP in support. Their fears as just like the same as many common folk would have had.

In retrospect, do not doubt that the Chees and their supporters will grow stronger. Their loss on Monday will strengthen themselves and reinforcing their activism of civil disobedience to further expose the shortcomings of the ruling government.

Those of you who believe in your civil rights and liberties should make present yourselves in the courts this fateful Monday. Honor these heroes even when defeat seems inevitable. Singaporeans who believe in the pledge and the rule of law should never forget this day.

Carpe diem, Lions.
